Cafe & Bar Staff

The Akakura Café is a happy, vibrant and friendly workplace and the individuals we are looking for will thrive in this environment. They will create a welcoming, relaxed, and quality experience for guests and customers.

The Akakura Café has a reputation for producing the best coffee in town and by day offers breakfast, lunch, and health conscious options. By night, it operates as a Wine & Scotch bar with a signature cocktail menu.

We are looking for people who: 

  • Have variety of experience in café, bar and the hospitality industry and are willing to work in crossover roles with in our hotel, cafe and bar

  • Are highly motivated, have an eye for detail, display pride in their work and have meticulous cleaning habits.

  • Are health conscious and can add value to the café and bar with ideas and knowledge

  • Have a passion for delivering outstanding service

  • Are well groomed and professional.

  • Are trustworthy and have an engaging personality.

  • Work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Maintain positive guest interactions while efficiently taking orders and accurately serving food and beverages.

  • Prepare all café and bar menu items ensuring quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the café, bar and working areas at all times.

  • Monitor, report and record stock on a daily basis and place orders accordingly

  • Receive delivered food stocks and supplies, verifying receipt of ordered items.

  • Regularly perform temperature checks and report any variances to management.

  • Checking guest’s identification and adhering to legal drinking age requirements

  • Monitoring guest’s alcohol consumption and if required refusing service in a polite way.

  • Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations

  • Complete opening, closing, daily checklists to ensure hotel standards and protocols are accurately met

  • Adhere to waste management and recycling procedures.

  • Present a clean-cut, neat and professional image.

  • Exhibit and encourage proper hygiene and sanitary habits.

  • Maintain a friendly, courteous and cheerful demeanor at all times.

  • Perform other duties or roles as assigned by management.

To be considered for this role you should:

  • Have a variety of experience in café, bar and the hospitality industry

  • Knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, wines, and spirits

  • Have experience in latte art

  • Be 100% committed to excellent customer service and presentation of all food and drinks

  • Have experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • RSA or equivalent training certificate

  • A positive attitude and excellent communication skills

  • Show initiative and be highly self-motivated

  • Be fun and friendly and able to multitask

 

All applicants must 

  • Be eligible for a Working Visa in Japan (under 30 years old)

  • Have experience and qualifications in the role you are applying for

  • Have experience in the hospitality industry

  • Commit to the full season late December – mid-March

  • Have a great work ethic, be friendly and a team player

  • Be someone who takes the initiative, is creative and resourceful and takes pride in their work

Would be an advantage if

  • You have Japanese language ability

  • Previous experience working a ski/winter season position

  • Hold or can obtain an International Drivers Licence
